This was a project for a well known aerospace company. They approached Lima Engineering after having problems with finding a reliable protection method for their shot blasting cabinet. Shot blasting by nature is an extremely abrasive process so only the toughest protection will survive. For this project we coated 10mm recycled rubber crumb panels with a tough 3mm coating of spray applied polyurethane. The panels were sprayed in our facility and then attached onsite to the cabinet walls, doors and floors using contact adhesive.

BEFORE IMPLEMENTATION :

  • Blasting grit and water leaking form the sump

  • Loss of blasting grit

  • Curtain sides holding blasting grit and creating concentration issues

  • Uncomfortable environment for Operators / Maintenance when working inside the blast cabinets

AFTER IMPLEMENTATION :

  • No grit escaping through the sump

  • Reduction in Noise with the rubber coated tiles

  • Much better environment for Maintenance and operations

  • Lighting Levels increased inside the cabinet
